[Question] Minix, Chromecast, etc Streaming Devices: Advice Sought

    Hi there

I want to ditch Dstv so, after talking to a number of folks, I bought a Minix NEO-U1 in the belief that it, and my Sony Bravia TV could do anything I want.

    Naive, no?

Sadly, what I want is local newstation eNCA, Supersport for the rugby, documentaries and movies.

Seems great for some old BBC programs (Dinner Ladies, e.g), but no good for M.A.S.H., no good for movies, Supersport or eNCA.

I turned to Netflix for the movies only to find that this device is not supported by Netflix.

I have tried 'side-loading' a Netflix APK but without success and, from what I read, it isn't very successful anyway.

Question: Can I download some app to sort out my Minix or do I junk it and turn to a ChromeCast or ChromeCast Ultra and will either of those stream the modest list of my wants as noted above?

    Any help appreciated.

PS I am a battle-scarred old accountant so assume that my tech knowledge is marginally above that of a goldfish.

So what we do is have a chromecast in every TV in the house.
We have a central PC with PLEX on it and we have Netflix on all the phones.

So anyone can cast anything from PLEX to any TV and ditto for Netflix.

Works like a charm and if there is rugby we borrow someone's login details and then cast the rugby to the TV.

      Thanks PlatinumWealth for the response.

The consensus is that Minix boxes may or may not be supported by Netflix so I am ditching that solution and going for the Chromecast solution.

My daughter-in-law has offered her folks' login details so we can access the rugby.

      Thanks again for your input.
