    Tax Return Threshold

Just a quick question which I am sure has been spoken about before, but what is the threshold for a temp worker that we have out there to submit a tax return. She has worked as a temp for a company for quite a while. What is the amount that you earn that you have to submit a return ?

Less than 250,000 annual salary before tax

    One employer

No other form of income (Rent or second job)

No Tax deductions (medical expenses, retirement annuities, travel expenses)

But it also states that a few criteria has to be met . And now I'm confused again because one of the criteria says you have to register and then later on it says that if you register you have to submit a return ??? So they are contradicting themselves ??

I find that confusing as well. Am also not sure if it applies if you submitted a return last year.

They advertise that if you are unsure whether to submit a return visit www.sars.gov.za and use the wizard. Tried it a few days ago and there was no wizard to be found ... "or call our contact centre". Ja - Nee - Well - Fine.

lol .... ok thanks Mike. At least we can be confused together. And its also no use phoning them because as much as they are improving their whole customer service, it does depend on who you talk to and how that person interprets the rule.

If you earn a single dime, you are required to register. Madness.
