    Gas stove and socket outlets

Mounting a socket outlet behind a free standing gas stove or within 200 mm of the gas hob, a code violation right ?

An extract from a gas compony website.

"Wall sockets are to be at least 200mm either side of the cooking top.
The isolation switch must be at least 200mm away from the cooking top.
No plug points to be placed in the cupboard directly underneath the hob or cooking top.
The electrical connection for the ignition is to be connected directly. It cannot be plugged in"

You can plug in the oven, but not the plug for the hob ignition ?

So in short, yes you can use a socket outlet to connect an oven and ignitor, just make sure it is not directly below the hob or within 200 mm of the burners.

If you are concerned about gas regs, install an isolator above the counter 200 mm away from the burners and not directly above the hob unless you have a glass top, which is attached to the top of the stove and folds up.
