Good day, I have to redo a db at a house that was a diy installation.
Eskom and the inverter AC goes into a db in the house, from this db the electricity also goes to the house.
At the moment everything is in this one db and annex P.1 describes my situation the best but the alternative supply don't need an Eskom supply to work!
If I split the current db into an AC combiner DB and a House DB my questions are:
Do the Inverter need a point of control for the supply to the inverter? Because if you switch the Eskom mains off then the non esential loads can't work.
Do I need a point of control for the Eskom that goes to the House DB, non esential loads, from the AC combiner DB?
Do I need a point of control for the Inverter AC that goes to the House DB, esential loads, from the AC combiner DB?
I was thinking of doing it as follows:
A 60 Amp 2-pole Iso will isolate all incoming Eskom power and will be the main Eskom Iso. This Iso wil supply 3 breakers with Eskom power.
The first breaker will control Eskom power to the changeover, the second breaker will control Eskom power to the Inverter and the third will control Eskom power to the house, non esential loads.
Lastly I will have a breaker between the changeover and inverter that controls the power from the inverter and a breaker after the changeover that supply power to the house, esential loads.
The house db will be a two rail db with esential loads on one rail with mains, earth leakage and breakers for all esential loads.
The second rail of the house db will have a mains, earth leakage and breakers for all the non esential loads.
Am I overdesigning? Do you have a better plan? let me know, please!
