So we've just returned from the traffic department where my wife needed to renew her driver's licence.

She failed the eye test and was unsuccessful.

So off we go to the optometrist.

She passes with flying colours and the optometrist say's her eyesight is good enough for a pilot's licence as well and issues her with a certificate.

Back to the traffic department where the certificate is accepted and her renewal application is successfully concluded.

Now, the question needs to be asked. Why does she fail the test done by a traffic officer, but passes one carried out by a qualified optometrist ?

Who's right and who's wrong ?

My suggestion to anyone needing to renew their licence, is to go to an optometrist first to save some time. It costs approx R150 for a driver's licence eye test and is well worth the time saved.
