How many hot-water geysers are sold each year?

I wonder if anyone would have any information on how many new electrical hot-water geyser systems are sold in SA, each year?

I am doing market research & have built up a rough estimate, based on a few rules-of-thumb. I would very much like to tighten the estimate, if at all possible.

What would also be incredibly useful is a further breakdown into the number of 1kW, 2kW, 3kW, & 4kW systems are sold per annum.

Links to useful information would be most gratefully received.

    Thanks so much,

I would imagine that the vast majority of geysers in SA are manufactured and sold by http://www.kwikot.co.za

I think they 'own' virtually all of the big brand names in this market.

Thanks, davob. I think you are correct in Kwikot's market-share. The problem is that the total volume sold by them may not be that easy to get your hands on.

I'll try having a look into their annual balance sheets (if available), but expect that this may be hidden inside sales figures.

I'm interested in arriving at an overall market estimate for a typical number of new/replacement geysers sold in SA each year. My current estimates are roughing out at around 135,000 units total, per year. I'd like to refine this estimate, if possible.

Just a thought, but have you actually tried asking Kwikot direct ? The should have the numbers available and if you explain that you're doing research or similar, they may just give you the numbers.

Try calling the head office and talking to the PR dept.

^ I'll try that - it may be worth a try.

Do you think that an SA company would really be that willing to part with information like that? I've always found these kinds of companies to be incredibly cagey about this kind of information.

For the cost of a phone call, it could be a very quick solution. What you got to lose ?
