I think in a pyramid scheme people pay for the right to recruit and get paid for the act of recruiting. And in a network marketing people get paid for selling products or services directly to consumers and they get a percentage of their team’s sales to consumers

Dead right about the pyramid scheme analysis - they make you pay for the opportunity, and not the product or service.
