Standard Bank and one time passwords

Trying to do anything with Standard Bank that requires a one time password has become a real PITA. A week ago it was difficult - today it has been impossible.

A week ago it tended to be third time lucky. I don't know how many times I've tried today - the one time password SMS simply will not arrive before the session has expired.

It's frustrating doing the same thing over and over and over again because the technology doesn't frigging work

At times last week they at least had a message when you logged in that said they were having problems.

Now - no notice. Maybe the notice is broken too

I've had similar issues with FNB and the one time pin arrives at 4 o clock in the morning or some equally rediculous time.

I always thought it might be the cellular networks giving traffic priority to http or voice traffic and queuing the sms's for bulk sending later but I don't know for sure.

I got around the problem with FNB by setting an email address as the second OTP option. That way if the sms doesn't arrive I just click to use the second option and pick it up in my email a minute later.

Standard Bank has a small device which they can give you loaded with one time passwords. Though they do not advertise it.

          Talk to them.
