    Telkom AGAIN

This is so frustrating. Telkom recently upped its adsl service from .384 kilobits/sec to 1000000kilobits per second for no additional cost. Whoepee.
Then they removed the capping. Double whoepee.
Today when trying a number of international sites I get zip, zero, no connection nadah, zuf, zilch. the errors range from 404 page not found to
a blank stare. Pinging the sites result in no return, as though they do not exist. Yet I have been using these same sites on a dialy basis
for at least two years. What's going on???

      I did.
Telkom say they were doing "maintenance" involving some links to overseas networks - whatever that means.
      All ok now

In all fairness, Telkom did sent out notices that they will be doing upgrades and that service may be interrupted. In my opinion they are not half as bad as we make them out to be. I can not say the same for our VERY expensive cellphone companies.

This is a very common issue with them as whenever they make any changes they don't give any notice before they just do like that.

I am on the 4mps line which was recent upgraded to 6mps, which should be adequate for my needs, but i still have problems with Web Sites like Linkedin and Facebook (both of which I use for business). What I did notice with Telkom is that their ADSL is shaped so Business Customers get priority during business hours. Because I am a sole prop working from home, I use my home line - looking at changing either to Telkom Business or possibly MWEB.

I know their shaped service is very much "shaped", but I had no idea they also had that sort of priority setup going on along with all the protocol and port shaping they do.

I'm with MWEB. 1MB uncapped. No shaping, no issues, no hassles, no throttling.

I am sure many of us complain about Telkom, I would just hate to be one of the call centre people.
