    Security Precautions on website

Apart from my business website I have two other websites which are to some extent dormant and I do not want to pay a lot of money for hosting them and not fully use them. With Afrihost they may just lie there for about nothing. My present host is Elitehost and they have a package where I may keep them there for R60,00 per month and they merge the two accounts and I think into one cPanel. They say the following: "You will then just need to take extra security pre-cautions and ensure that the sites are always kept updated and have security plugins installed. If a hacker were to compromise one of the sites, they would have access to all the sites"

My question now is how do I go about installing security plugins and keep them up to date. Is this something one can download, install and update regularly?

    Thanks

Are they just parked domains, or do you actually have content on them?
    Participation is voluntary.

The one has content and the other one parked, but the idea is to put content on this one as well within the next few months.

Parked domains typically dont have any content on them so there is no need to keep them patched and up to date.
R60 per month for a parked domain sounds a little excessive, unless you are using the domain for e-mail related services.
