    Talking map apps

Firstly, I am so bad with directions that I can drive past my own house, (I call it eccentric genius, my wife mutters something about dumb ass)

So since my Nokia gave up ghost all is lost.
I have google maps and those things on tablet but it does not talk, it gives me directions which is better than nothing, but I f the first instruction is head south on M7,thats it GAME OVER.

    Please help

Ironically thats just what I said now.
Being driven to airport and sat in back doing work.
        I quite like the idea.
I think I'll add a big screen tv, champagne and some hunnies with the vehicle and all is well

Can definitely concur! I find this works even better than Garmin stuff (which tends to talk, but too late).

I used to have a garmin until it kept telling me to update. Now I use my maps on I phone - it is fantastic and talks to me as well No more need for a garmin again

I find this happens, when you have not loaded a specific map of an area, so Garmin can not correlate the co-ordinates to a road on a map. When updating Garmin with new maps, you have to select areas which you will use, a bitt of a pain in the but, as you have to click onto some 50 squares to do the whole of RSA.

Another gripe I have with Garmin, is for some unknown reason, they have not used an ASCII keyboard layout, when you have to enter text - the keyboard is laid out in a linear fashion, A to Z,daft in my book, as the ASCII keyboard layout is a universal layout.

I suppose you mean a QWERTY layout. Be glad they at least followed an alphabet, what if they went and use AZERTY, or DVORAK.
