Bacn - A New Internet Term

When you receive email that Geek is now following you on Twitter and your best buddy just wrote on your Facebook wall, that’s bacn (pronounced “bacon”). It’s any email you receive that isn’t spam, but isn’t exactly a personal message either. Your electronic phone bill is bacn. Your Google alerts are bacn.

Bacn. It’s better than spam.

I think we pump out a fair amount of bacn from here. At least, those update emails etc. are meant to be useful and helpful.

Any feedback on that? Are we contacting you too much, just right or not enough?

I quite enjoy the updates and often forward them to people that I think might be interested in joining the Forum. Suggestion: include in your update e-mail an option to forward it to someone with your referral ID.

The trouble is they're two seperate systems.

The vB software will deliver me the email list to plug into the mail manager, but not a combo of email list and userid - which is what I'd need to blend in the referral tracking.

I'll see if I can find or develop a workaround to fix that, but in the meantime if you're aware of any new members that should be credited to you as a referral, let me know and I'll fix it manually. (After confirmation from the member of course )

I must say I'm quite happy with the emails I receive from these forums. It's not a daily thing that annoys me and just goes straight to the trash. But yet it's often enough to remind me that this place exists and tempts me to come back to read some interesting threads.
