HP Envy X360 Battery 916814-855 replaced

    Hi all

    I trust everyone is well.

I had to replace my laptop battery as the old one failed and was getting hot on charge.

I bought a replacement HP battery from Firsttech. I confirmed that the technical information was correct and installed it.

From the onset the battery showed up as 100% charged which I thought was odd. Anyways the battery percentage does not change and the power cable was not connected. Eventually the battery died as I was waiting to see if the battery power dropped, it did not.

HP support assistant cannot detect the battery and shows no battery installed.

Now with the power cable charging, the charge orange light is on for only 5 minutes and then it goes white suggesting fully charged.

I have googled fixes and have tried them all to no avail. Even tried the old battery and same story (which was not the case before the battery swap).

How do I resolve this please, I would have thought this was a simple issue of swapping old battery for new.

Would appreciate any advice from you knowledgeable tech guys.

    Thanks in advance.

Maybe the battery charger is faulty.
Best to get the laptop to a service centre to do diagnostics

          Hello.
Based on the fact that you are convinced of the compatibility of the battery and the laptop, I can recommend that you reset the battery.

When you reset the battery, you are essentially draining any remaining power in the laptop and resetting the internal battery management system.
Turn off your laptop and unplug the power cable.
Remove the battery from the laptop.
Press and hold the power button on your laptop for 20 seconds to drain the remaining power.
Reinsert the battery and connect the power cable.
Turn on your laptop and check.

          Check battery driver:
Go to Device Manager and expand the Batteries category.
Right-click Microsoft ACPI Compliant Management Method Battery and select Uninstall.
Restart your laptop and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

If this operation did not help, then there is another option to conjure with the BIOS.
Check for BIOS or firmware updates as they may include updates related to battery detection and management.
Go to the HP website and look for support or downloads.
Enter your laptop's model number or serial number to find the downloads you need.
Look for BIOS or firmware updates and download the latest version.
After updating the BIOS or firmware, restart the laptop and check if the battery is detected.

If all fails, then your battery may be in a bad state.

            Thanks Peter.

I have done all the above and still no joy. The laptop works perfectly except for the battery not detected issue.

It this had to be a hardware-related issue, what would this hardware problem be? I would really like to get this repaired as long as it does not cost the price of a new laptop
