    Twitter Problems

    Hi there
Can any of you assist me with the following Twitter situation?

I've received the following message yesterday from twitter. "Due to concern that your account may have been compromised in a phishing attack that took place off-Twitter, your password was reset. Please create a new password. "

There was a link to Twitter where I had to fill in my e-mail address in order for them to send me new password details.

I did it several times but has so far not receive any emials from them. When contacting Twitter support via e-mail, they send me the same link.

What can I do to solve this problem?

    Regards
    Marietjie

Could be an email address harvesting stunt. Have you tried logging into your Twitter account to see if the password has really been reset?

Also quite a good page on login and password reset issues here or check other articles on the troubleshooting page.

              Hi there Marietjie,

Please could you take a look at that email again for us so we can understand a few things.

If you're using hotmail/Gmail or a web browser based email solution, please hover your mouse over the link that takes you to the reset screen. look in the lower left section of the browser. it should show you where the link takes you. is it the same as the actual link provided? (if you use outlook or something similar, I think following the same method would work). if you have something like "click here" or "change password" as the link, please right click the shortcut, choose "copy shortcut" and paste it here.

normally with phishing scams they make it look like you're going to the correct site, but take you to another one (adding extra characters, that sort of thing).

a few more questions asked so we can understand the problem.
do you normally receive an email when changing your password?
have you tried using both your old and new password?
have you been able to follow your own tweets? (as if you were someone from outside)
are there any tweets that you didn't post?

hopefully we can get to the bottom of this quickly.
