Microsoft Windows Vista Basic with SP1 unstable!

This is not a new problem. Your screen goes into standby mode and sometimes you cannot get it started again. Now I have done everything humanly possible to get this damn problem solved. Microsoft as usual are to useless to answer there e-mails.

What I have done so far.

A > Disabled all none critical services.
B > Updated all drivers and even flashed the BIOS.
C > Disabled power manager completely.
D > Streamlined the GPU “NVidia driver” for performance only.
    E > Reinstalled SP1 and GPU Drivers.
F > Formatted System followed by a fresh new installation. Then repeated steps A,B,C,D and out of desperation E.

Within 30 minutes my screen will go blank. I have tested seven screens Two Samsungs LCD’s two Acers LCD’s and three CRT screens ranging from Samsung to LG. Error persist. Changed the GPU with an old ATI and old NVidia both “PCI-E cards” problem persists.

Solution I fried myself I cannot get this damn error fixed!

    So yes please help!

I would guess a screensaver setting problem. Sometimes it's not just a case of moving the mouse - you have to hit a specific key.

My sequence when trying on a machine I don't know is <ENTER>, <SPACE BAR>, <F5> and last resort - the power button (just in case the machine has actually gone into sleep mode).

Well it is not a screensaver problem. I actually waited for my screen to turn off and then tested to see if I can get it to come back on again. Then I disabled the screensaver and repeated the process. Nothing none of the keyboard buttons or mouse buttons had any effect. The screen remained on standby.

So I took an old HDD and installed XP home on it. No problems to report. So basically there is something wrong with Vista or perhaps its controllers and or drivers. I don’t know I think I must give up on Vista it is just a bad OS

        You wouldn't be the first

Vista Basic really does seem to be a problem version.

I went back to XP and a year ago and have had so many extra hours to explore so many other things. That problem of - now it works - oh no it doesnt - oh yes there it works - oh no I must have been seeing things is mind blowing.

I think Vista is actually an OS scam set up by Linux types to get you to change over.

I am running basic with Beta evaluation copy Build 6002 for the past few months, no problems there. Except that it is probably the slowest OS I have had in a loooooong time. Still prefer XP!

Well the conspiracy here is to make something so bad that everything else after it will be “so good” Really a rather live with the limitations of Windows 3.1 then this junky OS. The fact is that you pay round about R1200 for a shiny disk and a cool looking sticker. Now you have to download SP1 and SP2 and a million other updates just to get it stable. But now the SP’s is not stable. So what the hell is stable “Microsoft’s Income

I was pointing sarcastically at Microsoft’s income here.
