Couldn't get internet sites such as google, yahoo, microsoft etc and no gmail, yahoomail, etc. using teklomsa.net as my isp. changed to AXXESS and bingo - everything works ok.
Anyone else experience this today (Thursday 24 June)?
According to my ISP (Afrihost), and confirmed by Telkom and Axxess, there has been some more problems with the Seacom link since 23/06. Apparently it will be sorted by the weekend.

Thanks for that, Dave. Funny thing is I couldn't get popular sites like Google or Yahoo on the Telkom ISP network but they worked fine when I switched to Axxess. Wondering what Telkom does/did to foul this up so badly?
I experienced the same problem, but found out that once I reach my cap, I can only surf local co.za sites. Problem is there are only a few genuine local sites, some local sites route through international servers.

Actually, Telkom had a problem with internet in the Port Elizabeth area (where i live) that was only resolved on Monday morning. But I still couldn't get many sites so I logged a fault. I turns out I WAS capped earlier but at the same time their daily report on usage also went belly up so I didn't realise I was capped. As another poster said you can then only get local sites but who know what these are?

Why is telkom still capping the service when many others are providing uncapped at no extra cost? I realise they are parastatal and need an act of parliament to change anything but in a modern business world surely this must change?
