    Telkom Internet down still

Telkom did something over the weekend of 18/19 December that resulted in a major crash of its system. Internet access and email verification (passwords) were both down and are STILL giving problems 10 days later. I have had to contact them to have my password reset to get email and internet back. This resetting lasts for about 24 hours then crashes out again. There is now a semi permanent message on the help line (10215) to this effect. Last night I listened to that dreary "musick" for 90 minutes while the computer voice told me an operative would "be with me shortly". Eventually, I hung up the phone and tried again this morning.
Jeff Hedberg, the new CEO, is doomed to fail, just like all his predecessors. This is because he, like all the others, simply doesn't care enough about his (diminishing) customers, or couldn't care less. If, that is, he is even aware of the problem. Ten years ago we had that loud mouthed swaggering yank Gerschwindt from South-West Bell trying to sort out the problems, He failed and so did all his successors.
So why don't I change to another service provider? At present I pay R259 for 5 gig shaped with download speed of 384kB. Where can I get a better deal than this? Can anyone advise?

How much bandwidth do you actually use and what speed would you actually like?

That problem is still going on? I was not a happy bunny last week with it, especially as I pay a serious premium for unshaped from them.

I actually use all 5 gig and top it up with more as well. I would like 30 gig per month and a D/L speed of at least 5 meg instead of the crappy .3 Meg. But the cost is horrendous. Hence my query re: a better (i.e. more cost-effective) deal. Any ideas?

For high volumes unshaped you could check out this option. It will only work for you if you can schedule most of your heavy usage during night time hours.
