Funny...they supplied me with a ZTE MF 190 which is not compatible to my Netgear MBRN 3000 3G router.
I am wondering which route to take now. Go back to CellC or go back to In Con. ?

The Netgear has a 2 year warranty and I've never had problems returning them. But, check on the Netgear forums, or phone Duxbury to see if there's a firmware update which will work with the modem.

Have taken the router back to IC and they have done the firmware upgrade, still no joy,
So now back to CellC !
By looking at the Netgear website it seems that the Huawei dongle is compatible.
I am going to ask them to exchange this for the Huawei.

                  The plot thickens..............
I have returned the Netgear to IC and have gone next door to PC Worx and they have tried a different make of 3G Modem ( I forget the name now) and this modem sees the speedstick but will not connect. ( Signal shows 0 ).
According to the techie, a Huawei stick will connect, so off I go to CellC store.
"No Sir, we shall not exchange the MF 190 for a Huawei but we will send your MF 190 for "repairs", I will take 4 to 6 weeks "
I am not sure but sounds as though they entrust the shipment to a guy either on foot or at best via bicycle to JHB 130Kms away.
So.........sounds as though Hello Peter needs to come to my assistance again.!
I have emailed the customer relations dept at CellC but do not have much confidence.

Well, no offence but the idiots who work in both IC & PC Worx in the Waterfall mall don't know much.

Phone Duxbury, they're in JHB and will help you with this.

Also, if the items were purchased after the 1st April then you could take up the Consumer ACT on them as well.

P.S. Where in Rustenburg are you? I actually considered using the same setup (i.e. 3G router + CellC modem) on my inlaw's farm, outside Swartruggens but don't know if CellC has any reception there.

Rudi, I am not sure but presently in Rustenburg only EDGE and sometimes GPRS. They say that mid June is the due date for fast service but if it will cover right up to Swartruggens I am not sure. It all depends where they are going to put their tower. If it is where the TV tower is at present right on the mountain then I guess it will work.
But, what we can do is that as soon as their fast service is running, you can borrow my setup and try it at their place. How's that !

                        Thanx for the offer.

They're in Lindsey's Poort and get their signal from SilverKraans, which I highly doubt will have Cell-C reception. I think I'll give it another year or so, unless Cell-C pulls some quick moves on their network, and see what we can do.

You are welcome any day. I shall keep a watch on it and let you know if there is any progress. I was actually thinking about the Silverkrans tower. But lets wait and see.

Just a query about CellC's offering. It just sounds fishy to me:
                            • On Contract: 12 months at R299/m for 5GB/m @ 21MB/s ... that means you pay in total R3588 for the year.
                            • Prepaid with dongle: R2999 for 60GB over 12 months (i.e. 5GB/m) @ 21MB/s
                            • Prepaid SIM only: R1999 for 60GB over 12 months (i.e. 5GB/m) @ 21MB/s

So is that R589 interest and R1000 for the dongle? And what's going on with the contract, you can only get rates of (at best) R0.13/MB for the 3GB bundle @ R400. When's this 5c/MB "promotion" going to end the honeymoon la-di-da days of fast cheap access?

And just so you can tell CellC to go "fix" that dongle of yours: Their own site states that it's a Huawei:
Connect your way with cellphone contracts, prepaid deals, data packages and C-Fibre (FTTH) from Cell C. Recharge online with airtime, data bundles and more.

If it's not then they're clearly misrepresenting!

I cannot comment on the contract deals but I simply bought the 7.2 Mb deal and yes I do not know what the price per Mb would be once I run out of the 24 Gig.
Also you are right................ I now see on your link that the do show the Huawei stick.
Ok, back to CellC ! They did not supply what they advertise.
