I am actually a newbie and not very well versed with the technicalities of email marketing, or HTMLcoding, or statistics etc.I want providers who can provide me ease of use in the email service.

There are others, but the best ease-of-use option is probably Aweber.

I have been using Mailchimp to send out my newsletters to my 300 subscribers - best of all, it's free!

You get some nice reports after each mailshot, like who opened the email (and how many times), which links in your email were clicked and by who, etc.

            Hi Sarah
Besides the email newsletters I send out for my clients, I personally send out a weekly email newsletter to more than 5000 subscribers. I have been sending it out every week - missing a few weeks over holiday periods and the like - and on Friday sent out my 40th Edition. I have tried various options and providers and have to say that I have found Graphicmail to be the best. I actually left them to go to aweber but have now gone back to them. When I started I had no knowledge whatsoever about html etc and they have a really easy to use editor as well as ready made templates which you can adapt. They also have brilliant chat support which I love. Being rather impatient I like knowing that I can instigate a chat and have my query answered right there and then as opposed to having to wait for an email response. If you can insert an image into word you'll be fine. There are also other editors available - kompozer being one - which are also easy to use. The kompozer software is freely available on the net. I am very sold on the concept of email marketing because, besides all the advantages, I see the results that I get for my clients. Graphicmail gives detailed stats and you really couldn't ask for better. It is very exciting to start a newsletter - or any new project I suppose - and I wish you all the best. Please feel free to ask me for assistance - as in any learning curve I bumped my head so many times that if I could save you a bruise or two I would be happy to do so!
            Kind regards
            Chantell

Agreed. Mailchimp seems a definite front-runner at the moment.

Up to 2000 subscribers and 12 000 emails per month and it's free.

We use AWS SES + Sendy on a VPS.

How easy / difficult was that to set up? I've been using Mailchimp for years without complaint, but a few months ago they got blacklisted by UCE Protect and it has been playing havoc with my campaign deliverability.

This setup is a little bit more advanced, it's not too difficult to set in fact I'll sommer help you, the problem or obstacle is that it's not free.

                          You need a VPS (I prefer domains.co.za)
You need to buy Sendy it's 50 dollars I think.
Then you also need to create a Amazon SES account.
