    Team Viewer

How practical would it be for someone to do a companies G/L on the Pastel office system from your home via Team Viewer using IDSL lines on both sides ?

It would work fine, provided you have a commercial version of TeamViewer, which is quite expensive (I paid almost R5k for mine). The free version will stop working if you use it too frequently.

Otherwise, use LogMeIn (the free version) - it's a bit sluggish compared to TeamViewer, but it's workable.

I use the free version of Team Viewer for about 3 hours per week for one of my clients and to date I have had no issues. ADSL 4gig uncapped accounts on both sites

              Only if:

              1) the other computer can do Remote Desktop, which Windows xxx Home can't
              2) if you know the other computers public IP address, or have setup something like http://www.dyndns.org already.

Teamviewer and LogMeIn would work fine for this, but it's not going to be at the same speed as over the local LAN. Try out Teamviewer first to see how effective it is before you purchase it.
