What is the fastest web server?

As usual, I'm skeptical on any benchmarks. But this doesn't look too bad. It may not cover everything that gets done on a web server, but it's something to look at (also, bar charts!)

    Something of an understatement

There's also the "done with out-the-box settings" issue which I suggest might also be skewing results some.

I'm fairly confident MS pays far more attention to default settings than the community projects do...

...and MS doesn't have to deal with the inherent problems of obtaining consensus out of a committee of unpaid, maniacal volunteers either.

Well if you read their own comment about why they still use Apache: The difference is actually so infinitesimal as to be more than likely swamped by normal latency times. Thus you'd probably not even notice the difference between the fastest & slowest servers in those tested. And thus (for them at least) the overruling factor is: "Which server gives us the features we need?"

IIS is the Microsoft server product tested and came out the clear winner.
