Hi there
Had the same problem. You can do the testing under simulated conditions at training centres. Impossible to find anyone to do the testing with because hardly anyone does it. I flew to cape town to do it because that was quicker. -
Can you please inform me on which training centre did you use in cape town and did they help you with the complete portfolio ?Comment

About 7 years back I did it with the Western Cape Approved Electrical Inspection Authority - WCAEIA but when I was looking for them again just now it seems to have changed hands
These seem to be the new guys but I'm not sure if they provide the same course - https://eaiasa.co.za/
Give them a try
I also heard (but never tried tried myself) that P and T - https://pandttechnology.co.za/ in Germiston may have assisted people in the past. Not sure.
Did you try the ECA or did they give you the "collect a portfolio of your work blah blah blah... which will then sit on a desk for years"
You need to speak to the right person at the ECA (suggest Chris Koen - maybe he can give you advice?)
I battled for ages trying to get employment (offering to work for free) just so I could work along side someone so I could get my portfolio together.
I don't believe that many many electrician test (or even know how to) their work so how you are supposed work along side someone who does was mystery to me.
I did my testing and inspecting course in the UK which is WAAAAAAAYYYYY more involved than what you have to do here. After I came back to SA the WCAEIA was the only option I could find
The UK testing course one counts for nothing here though.Comment

Yup, found it on P and T. Unit standards of 3 phase testing and dates.
