    Problem with outside lights

Hey guys I was just wondering if you could help me out please,I installed 2 outside lights eurolux FS96 floodlights about 2 months ago and been working fine.Yesterday the power was off most of the day, when they were suppose to come on the lamps started flickering and only 1 came on,tonight there doing the same one flickers and the other one doesn't do a thing.I checked the voltage and it was 183v at the light fitting then I checked the power at the mains and it was 189V,the sockets were 180v.do you think the power could be affecting the lights?

Wow, 180v at the sockets! I'm surprised anything electronic is working in that house. I would test the lights on a 220v supply before going any further. Why is the voltage so low? Is the neutral voltage elevated? I would run the usual barrage of tests at the incoming supply and see if the problem is in the house or Eskom.

          Just a question -
Is the battery in your meter good?
          is your meter reading correctly?
How did you test your meter?

Power out for most of the day.
            Voltage problems there after.
            Coincidence? Probably not.

The municipality came out this morning and they said the clips on the mains cable in the street weren't on correctly and it was a new cable that was installed a few weeks back.there is now 210v at the mains and the outside lights are working.
The tester is brand new and so are the batteries

Well 210volts is still a little on the low side but a step in the right direction from being in the 180's range. Might be worth putting the installation under a decent load and rechecking the DB supply voltage and neutral-earth voltage etc. Glad to hear it's all working again anyway.

Well, if you train your artisans over a period of 18 months, module based, this is what happens. Problems.
