    Motor suppliers

We usually use Weg (Zest) and Bonfiglioli for most of our motors. Just wondered if you guys might have experiance either good or bad with other suppliers. I'm in Cape Town and currently hunting for 4 motors for different jobs, I'm looking for 2 x 18kW 4-pole foot mount TEFC, 1 x 7.5kW 4-pole pad mount TEAO and 1 x 1.1kW 4-pole flange mount TEFC along with various speed controllers and a reduction gearbox.

We get good discounts but the prices are still making my toes curl.

I'm not asking for much, I just need to find a superlative supplier selling superlative quality motors at bargain basement prices .

I also get my motors from Weg. They have a cheap line division which sells cheapie imported motors.

I purchased a VSD from them to convert a 3 phase lathe to use in a single phase enviroment for one of my customers, paid a good price, went back to purchase another one, price had doubled, i could understand if the price had gone up a few hundred rand but doubled, I sourced another drive for the same price from another supplier.
Comments are based on opinion...not always facts....that's why people use an alias.

Thanks for the leads guys. None of the applications require flameproof or Ex rated and to be honest I'd rather avoid the far East brands unless I'm aware of a proven track record for a particular manufacturer.

After some footwork I'm surprised at the price differences. Weg are coming in at just under double the price of the other contenders for the smaller sizes even with their discounts. CMG are very reasonably priced and Alstom turned out to be even marginally cheaper, all suppliers had stock off the shelf for all models above.
