    [Question] earth electrode dillema

Hi guys, perhaps the following question will get some interesting answeres!! On a huge alteration job done on a house in Tamboerskloof, built against the mountain of solid rock, I need to install an earth electrode. No soft ground at all! I get a beatiful 8 ohm reading on the foundations reebar setup, but unfortunately not acceptable. One of the council inspectors suggest a mound of old disused copper waste imbedded into a concrete slab. Any other suggestions from other members??

an expensive earth mat will work. or just lay a 10mm bare copper length of cable in a trench.

Lay an earth mat under foundations before the concrete is cast. If you're getting an 8 ohm Ufer reading from the existing rebar in the slab then weld a terminal onto it and use that as well. What size supply are you dealing with? Whats your required earth impedance (Ra)?
