    Box earthing

    Hi all

The regs state that metal enclosures on pvc conduit should be earthed if they can become live and touched.6.12.3.1.
What if the metal enclosure (4x4 box,4x2 box, round box for lights are on bosal or black enamel steel conduit .Would the boxes still need to be bonded /earthed if the switch ,light or plug that connects onto the box is earthed at the there earth terminal.

As far as I understand, if the metal conduit is earthed, that would be fine. Otherwise you would need to earth the metal conduit as well.

Thanks .It seems there are different methods of earthing the steel box .Just need some clarification .Some say the earthed switch, socket ,light that fits onto the box renders the box earthed.I earth the box with a separate earth from the earth terminal of the switch ,socket ,light that fits onto the box via lug and bolt is this necessary.

Apologies that was already answered.Let me rephrase .I understand the conduit cannot be used as an earth .So is the box earthed if the conduit is earthed.Does one have to earth the box separately.
