    External usage of prefabricated wiring

My apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

I need to know if Twin & Earth premanufactured wiring can be installed on an outside surface without any protection such as in the image. Kindly refer me to the relevant sections and/or paragraphs.

6.3.6 PVC insulated multicore cables with a bare earthing conductor and round cable with metal stiffening 6.3.6.1 The cables may be installed a) on the surface, b) under plaster, c) under a raised floor, d) in hollows (such as in walls and partitions) (no additional protection being needed), e) in roof spaces, f) direct in the ground (see 6.4.4.2, unarmoured buried cables), g) outdoors or exposed to water (but unless the manufacturer proves that the cables can withstand ultraviolet radiation, the cable shall be out of sight of the sky), and h) under screed if protected by an earth leakage protection device with a rated earth leakage tripping current (rated residual current) IΔn not exceeding 30 mA. 6.3.6.2 These cables shall not be buried direct in concrete.

I know the paragraph but I was taught T&E in covered locations and Surfix on unprotected locations. The paragraph 6.3.6 makes no distinction ....

Interestingly, manufacturer specs read: "The cable shall not be buried direct in concrete or in screed."

The heading states 6.3.6 PVC insulated multicolor cable with a bare earthing conductor (T&E) 'AND' round cable with metal stiffening (Surfix).

Aberdare will confirm that T&E does not have UV protection but Surfix does.

If the manufacturters spec says it can't be installed buried direct in concrete or screed then this would mean that conduit must be used even if the electrical regs say it's fine not to.
