    Conductor identification

    Hi all.

The regs state that for multi core cables one can apply insulation tape wound more than once on the ends of the conductor for identification purposes.
Can one use a black conductor as a live and indicate this by placing red insulation tape on the ends .Can this be done with any colour in the multi core cable .
    Trying to get it right.
    Thanks

If it's in a control panel or internal wiring of a machine then yes. If it's in a DB then I'm not sure. There was a discussion about wiring colours in this thread although I doubt it will clarify an answer for you.

      Thanks Andy.
I was wondering if using twin and earth( red black and earth ).
In a lighting circuit at the switch box using red supply into the switch and the black with red insulation tape on the ends from the switch to lamps.

I would say yes - The definition of multi core cable is a cable that contains at least 2 cores ( 3.8.5 pg 34)
Personally prefer heat shrink as a marker
