    Registered contractor

    Hi all

Is there somewhere a webpage to see if an electrical contractor is registered at the Dept of Manpower as a contractor? I refer to someone that is doing electrical installations that i know for sure isn't an installation electrician, and i'm not sure that he has an installation electrician in his service.

    Hi Willie,

The short answer is no. You have to call the Department of Labour and query whether a contractor is registered with them.

In fact one of the ECASA's proposals to DoL at the recent Safety Indaba held in Port Elizabeth is that the DOL should "Provide easy access to information on DoL’s database for the benefit of the public."
    Participation is voluntary.

Thanks Dave, i have reported this guy more than once to the ECA, i have contacted the DOL (they need a registration number and not the business name) and still this guy operates big time.

Sounds like DoL is as diligent about following up reports of unregistered electrical contractors in Kimberley as they are in Durban.

(In case anyone is wondering - it seems they have no interest at all).
