so for my first question how do I quote a person to replace their db board they have all materials is just the labour ?
and if they don't give the materials how would I quote ? is there a fixed prise in just replacing a db board ?
There is no fixed price for any electrical installation work.
You will need to obtain prices from your suppliers and add a markup that covers any expenses and that you feel comfortable with.
The same goes with labour - Work out your overhead costs and add to your labour rates to get an hourly rate- You will need to work out how long the job will take to come up with a figure to charge.
As an electrical contractor you are selling time - ensure that you cover insurance costs , vehicle , UIF , PAYE , standing time , travel time , workmans comp payments , labour levies , pension fund , sick benefit fund etc
If you are serious about being an electrical contractor and intend sticking around for the long haul and provide quality service , then join the ECA ( 041 363 1990 - ecasa.co.za ) which is an employers organization , attend meetings and learn from other contractors mistakes.
We all make mistakes and pay "school fees" - just ensure that the mistakes don't hurt to badly
Most important piece of advice I can give - Be careful of the carrot on the stick as it generally ends up in your Ass
