    House consuming/drawing too much electricity

    Hi everyone,

What can be the cause of high electricity consumption even when loads are switched off?

My neighbour's meter counts even when load are switched off and he end paying more for electricity. Electrician checked the wiring and no fault found according to him. I was wondering if there can be an equipment which stays on forever even when they switch it off.

Your advice will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Have the meter replaced.

Alright! I'll tell him to notify the municipality to replace the meter. Thanks.

First check if there is current flow with a multimeter.
Check both the live and the neutral.

If there is a neutral current but no Live current there are a few options that could be causing this even if the meter is correct.
