Gome automation, wifi switching - Anyone used any of this stuff?

I see ACDC have Silux (which I don't like as ACDC after sales is pathetic)
Hager have Coliva - looking into it
Quick switch - also looking into it
Sonas - cheap but no dimming option yet

Has anyone tried thsi stuff?? Opinions on the above, suggestions for better products?

It is a good time to start tinkering wit this stuff.

AC/DC are way out with their pricing...either they are not giving me the incorrect discount structure or just way out with their pricing.

I have been looking into sonoff ...there is a wide variety of options and they work with most of the smart hubs...something that is very important when going the smart route.

Smart homes are becoming a an affordable reality ...with most alarm companies offering remote activation with their systems via an app...cctv comes standard with remote viewing...the catch with this is data and bandwith...understand them other wise you gona feel the bite...and for F%^&* people dont put a camera in private parts of your house...i was doing some research into hacking networks and camera system...how to hack the neighbours wifes phone camera because she always has her phone with her no matter what she is doing ...within 10 minutes the guy hacked a system...hacked around 450 systems in a matter of minutes...like he says you would need to have something someone wants for them to pick your system.

There are a few things you need to consider before going this route...

price...

comparability with all the other devices...

WiFi stability and reliability (not so promising if you use hellcom)

and of course backup power... I am busy designing a system which will use specifically for your critical services in the house...to keep thing like wifi ...which has become a critical system if you use remote switching for cctv and alarm systems

I saw the Sonoff gear. Very reasonable price but there is no dimming option for lights as far as I can see.

ACDC is always expensive. I wouldn't mind paying if I knew it would work and if it doesn't work their after sales is pathetic. (like I have an hour to wait just to buy the stuff in the first place).

Wait till you return something and try get a credit...you think the time wasted waiting to buy is bad...still waiting since feb for them to credit my account.

I have Qwikswitch at home and it works well. The only thing to consider though if you are using LED lighting is to use the recommended brands of LED lamps otherwise you could get some flickering.
I also have the hub which connects to their server so the lights (or whatever you connect) can be operated remotely. The good thing is that the equipment that I use is SABS approved.

I've tried to look into qwikswitch, but seems limited and expensive.
I've recently started tinkering with the following brands:
- Sonoff (WiFi and/or RF switches, dimmers, etc)
- Broadlink (RF and IR control via WiFi - i.e. in place of TV remotes)
- Eachen WiFi+RF Light Switch (This works great if your wall switch only has live wire instead of live + neutral.

I'm an apple user, so I have to link my devices using IFTTT. Not too complicated. Just wish we had decently price products compatible with HomeKit available in SA.
