    [Question] Geyser installation to new location

    Are plumbers allowed to electrically connect a geyser that was moved from the ceiling to the outside pulling in new wires from db geyser breaker, neutral bar and earth bar removing the geyser isolator from db board and installing new isolator next to geyser on outside wall. Are they supposed to issue a coc for the geyser plumbing installation and what about issuing coc for electrical changes in db board?

    Only an Electrical contractor can do electrical installation work as per OHSA , Electrical Installation Regulations .
    Have pasted relevant clause below

    A electrician is not an electrical contractor - He can do work on his own house but may not undertake any electrical work for others beside his employer , who should be registered as an Electrical contractor.

    If a plumber wants to employ a electrician full time he would still need to then register as an electrical contractor
    That is my understanding

    Electrical contractor
    6. (1) No person may do electrical installation work as an electrical contractor unless that person has been registered as an electrical contractor in terms of these Regulations.
    (2)
    Any person who does electrical installation work as an electrical contractor shall register annually in the form of Annexure 3 with the chief inspector or a person appointed by the chief inspector.

    "electrical contractor" means a person who undertakes to perform electrical installation work on behalf of any other person, but excludes an employee of such first-mentioned person

    "electrical installation" means any machinery, in or on any premises, used for the transmission of electricity from a point of control to a point of consumption anywhere on the premises, including any article forming part of such an electrical installation irrespective of whether or not it is part of the electrical circuit, but excluding
    (a)
    any machinery of the supplier related to the supply of electricity on the premises;
    (b)
    any machinery which transmits electrical energy in communication, control circuits, television or radio circuits;
