Tingling on the taps

We got hammered properly, our suburb took a beating from hell, for the past 48 hours it has just been shovelling sand, silt and water, and yes everyone is ok and my house is still in one piece. I cant say the same for the people around us.

As the power is being restored, I am getting many calls from people who are experiencing a tingling feeling as they step into the shower. Unfortunately I havent been able to attend to any breakdowns or even put much thought into the cause, it is happening in suburbs all over Durban and surrounding area and seems to be happening more in estates or complexes. The only thing I can think could be happening, is the water has compromised the electrical infrastructure.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Back to my shovelling, I only have about a ton of sand still to move. We have contacted the insurance about the tree on the house, we just need a tree feller to remove it, then they can assess the damage. the electricity was restored at around 2.30 this afternoon. I have collected water for today, so we all good and we can have a hot bucket shower tonight

I think infrastructure damage maybe there is a potential above 0volts on the floor and taps are normally good earth conductors. My friends house in Westville totaly destroyed by a mudslide

I'm pretty sorted (particularly as I have electricity and had put in a rain harvesting system some years ago), but the neighbourhood has taken a beating.

The municipal water supply is out.
Some areas are without electricity still.
A lot of damage to roads - which is going to take a while to square away I expect.
At least most of the tree blockages have been cleared off the roads now.

I am still getting calls with regards to tingling feeling when touching taps.

Just sitting down for a hour or 2 so that I can catch up with paper work.

We have been going non stop doing breakdowns, mostly pool DB's where the cables are damaged from land slides, same with gates. Tripping earth leakages, blown trip connects, blown geyser due to no water, battery replacement due to no power, socket outlets submerged due to flooding, you name it.

A lot of calls to connect generators to the house and solar installations.

Our water was switched on during the week and the power was restored last night. I got to have a hot shower this morning, I smell so much better

I have been doing work all over the place and got to see the damage first hand, the videos and photos don't even touch on the extent of the damage. I have been listening to people talking about the night of horror, who had to literally run for their lives. We have friends who had less than 15 minutes to evacuate and family members who have lost their entire house due to land slides. Others who just got flooded and still busy with cleanups.

I had the same tingling feeling in our shower, found it was a loose neutral from the supplier side
