Restoration of power during load shedding

Hi, I stay in a complex with single storey houses. I can see my neighbours outside lights from where I sit in the living room. Can anybody tell me why my neighbours power comes on for about a second before my power comes on? Surely it should be exactly the same? I do have a surge arrestor fitted in my DB, is that maybe it ?

Only guess right now is that they may be on a different phase i.e red phase and that comes to voltage first.

Second guess as I type is they may be nearest to the kiosk thus transformer and you may be further away thus takes time to get the potential to you.

But I am sure someone heck of a lot sharper than me may know why

The later your power comes on, the better.

I have a delay on timer as well as a fridge guard on all my plug circuits through a contactor.

By the time the power gets to me all the nasties are over

This does not answer your question but it's actually better if everyone's power doesn't come back on at the same time.

I'd rather be happy than worried about it.

Some LED lighting have a delay in the PSU, especially SMPS type and dimmable as the circuit stabilizes before enabling the LEDs
