Good day all, I notice the new CBI single switch socket with 3 x 5A Euro sockets PS683R-P comes without a switch or switches! I know this is legal but how safe is it. Unpluging a high load can cause a spark is this a reason for concern or not
Try removing a standard plug top supplied with an appliance from an MES socket, sometimes you need a knife slide behind the plug top to get it out. its like trying to remove the surround, I made a tool for removing them.

Generally appliances have on/off switches so you will not be unplugging a high load unless a person is to lazy to switch off on the appliance.
Designs and regulations cannot always be written to cover every conceivable possibility.
We actually need to get back to the days where common sense actually counted for something - If we relied on more common sense maybe we could get rid of stupid
For me the line between being stupd and being careful is sometimes a bit tricky. I agree laws are not there to protect stupid people but for safety reasons, to protect people, buildings, instalations etc. A plug that is stuck needs help to get out, is that safety or being stupid. A device on fire, smoke coming out of it needs to be unplug, safety or stupidy? I agree one needs to switch a device of first before unplugging, that is common sence and safest option.
I feel a plug with a switch, disconnecting device is safer then one without a switch,
Granted people got confused with one switch on a plug thinking the one switch switches everything off, which it didn't and they then worked on live appliances. That is stupidity!
