[Question] Do I have to issue a COC if I install 1 socket outlet

I am sure this has been discussed before.

If I chase the wall and install 1 socket outlet back to back with and existing socket outlet, do I have to issue a COC. We all know the answer is yes you do.

The way I see it, you would issue a supplementary COC for the socket you install and attach it to the original COC.

If it was that simple everyone would be happy and we could be sitting down enjoying a hot cuppa coffee, with the snow in the background.

The catch, what if the customer cannot produce a COC for the socket outlet already installed ?

The way I would handle this kind of situation, I would carry out the tests required, fill out a supplementary COC and hang on to it until I get the original.

If I notice any visible code violations, I will document them and take photos then attach them to the supplementary COC.

I would offer to carry out a full inspection report and submit a quote if an original cannot be produced.

If the customer insists that I have to produce a COC for the 1 socket outlet, I would fill out as much detail on the supplementary as possible to CYA and put a line through all the open spaces.
Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

Agree fully - you can only certify what you have personally inspected and tested
