AC protection box

So this may be the start of a few threads.

So these inverters are being installed with a little 12way board that houses the double pole circuit breakers for feed to and from inverter, a SPD, the manual change over etc...

Now is this considered a Sub DB or just a fancy protection box ?

Reason is, if it is a Sub DB, then it requires a main switch to switch off the feed from the main DB and then as well as the Inverter feed. Second to that then it would require a Test report or even full CoC and be treated as a Sub DB.

What is this box of tricks then... A fancy AC protection box or a sub DB...?

We have been having the discussion in the workshop
Change over switch and 2 supplies in one enclosure is messy in my eyes .

We have decided to create a " changeover panel " which will then feed an essential Sub D/Board

Personally think the bypass switch needs to come out

Agreed, that is also why in the other thread I am wanting to put a 4 pole Main switch to then keep it more or less in line with a Sub DB...

For your thinking above are you wanting to make a seperate DB for the essential supplies but if the inverter is down have it switch off and then switch on a seperate feed to that now Sub DB?

We use the changeover switch to isolate the power to the inverter and keep the system operating as normal, if for some reason the inverter has to be removed or serviced. It doesnt affect the essential supply.

The way I wire the "changeover panel" : a combo breaker (main switch and overload protection) in and a double pole combo breaker (main switch and overload protection) out to an essential sub DB with all the required protection.

I have seen a few of these "changeover panels" with some strange wiring configurations.

4 pole isolators are normally used for 3 phase systems.
