Then they would throw the ball back into your court and tell you to read the building and electrical regs, at the end of day always making it your responsibility.
It makes you wonder why tradesmen are so quick to charge ridiculously low rates

Looing at some of the installation, people should take note of this note.
RELIABLE VENTILATION· Sufficient clearance (at least 10 cm (3.94 in)) between the module frame and the mountingsurface is required to allow cooling air to circulatearound the back of the module. This also enablescondensation or moisture to dissipate.

Our first inverter/battery installation for 2023, went live yesterday.
At this rate it looks like the new company registration is going to have to happen much sooner than we expected.
Bring on the load shedding 2023, the higher the stage the more work Lets hope the grid just keeps failing and stages rocket past 6 and beyond.
It makes you wonder if the renewable industry hasnt got something to do with the power station issues, because man some people are making a LOT of money.

Stainless steel can be used for both aluminum and copper connections, without creating a reaction between the components. The same cannot be said for copper and aluminum.

Any solar/inverter/battery installations going forward.
The rails will be bonded together using a 6 mm earth, with special nuts bolts and washers.
A 6 mm earth wire will be installed with each set of solar wires (per string) , from the roof down to an earth bar mounted close to the inverter. Still deciding if it should be mounted in an enclosure.
The inverter and battery will be bonded together using a 6 mm earth wire installed back to the earth terminal provided.
A earth spike will be knocked into the ground as close to the inverter as possible with a 6/10/16 mm earth wire (This will be determined by the supply cable from the DB to the inverter) from the spike back to the earth terminal provided.
The cable between the AC changeover (main supply cable) will determine the earth wire from the AC changeover to the earth terminal. For example, if we install a 5 kva inverter, we use a 6 mm twin+e or if we install an 8 kva, we use a 10 mm Twin+e. In some cases we use a 16 mm twin to supply the 8 kva inverter, depending on the distance and application.
The earth supplied with the main supply cable from the DB to the AC changeover panel will be connected to the earth bar in the AC changeover panel.
This should CYA any future domestic solar installations.
The commercial land industrial projected lined up for this year will be designed and installed as per engineer designs.

Am I glad that I've veered away from the business of issuing COC's for property sales.
Judging by the number of solar panels going up and all the inverters and batteries being installed, issuing coc's is going to become a bit more involved than what they have been in the past.
Ian, you are spot on with your advice regarding the size of units to install. It doesn't help doing a load test unless the client has sufficient financing available. The budget determines the size. Like you always say " that's where the fight starts". I don't know about your area, but here in our valley 90% of clients expect a champagne job for beer money, so I stick to supplying beer. When I am approached for inverters, I just advise the client to go and buy a plug and play unit from Ellies. Problem solved.
Anyway, nice to hear that you are busy.
I'm also blessed and fortunate to have enough work.
