I downloaded the application form to register my customers systems for our part of the country, here's the interesting part,

according to part C - Compulsary declaration

Area of compliance

The installation must comply with NRS 097-2-1 ?

I thought the SANS 10142-1 was the law?

NRS covers grid code , PF , time connected back to grid , that you do not change frequencies or exceed network capacity ,change network parameters , harmonics etc

Just in case anyone is still confused about the neutral earth bond......


B.1.2 Neutral conductorThe neutral conductor shall not be connected direct to earth or to the earth continuity conductor on theload side of the point of control (see 6.1.6 in SANS 10142-1:2012).

This has become an interesting topic. At the rate the cables are being stolen, it might not be a bad idea to just knock in a spike, just in case. There seems to be mixed views on this topic.


NOTE 1 In the case of the TN system of electricity supply, an earth electrode is normally not required in an electrical installation (see 7.12.3.1.1 as amended by amendment No. 6 in SANS 10142-1:2012).
