    Go big or go home

The good news is the time and money invested in solar is paying off huge.

Financial year end in a week or two and we have managed to just scrape in below the vat threshold. I could have smashed it with little effort.

The big question is do we go all the way and register a new company like "super solar" and register with Vat and all those silly things?

Which means employing an IE, willing to work for a ridiculous R20k per month who has tons of experience in solar, silly enough to put his name on the projects going forward. Paying leave pay and bonuses at the end of the year. By the way are there lots of IE's to go around? A pity there is not a shortage of them to go around, it could improve their salary

Doing the whole public liability, bad workmanship cover, industrial council registration and all that stuff.

The good news, which is actually bad news because the stock crisis is just going to get even worse and you gonna sit with hundreds of thousands tied in the suppliers account while waiting for stock to arrive. "Big boost for roof top solar in South Africa".

I think some people (who got burnt in 2009) importing container loads of generators maybe a little cautious of the hype this time. This time there is way more demand, so much more to go around. The catch is if you werent already on the gravy train by June last year, you have already lost out on a huge chuck of the billions.

The fact that the banks are on board and happy to get people into way more debt, is also helping.

I get asked why I dont have solar on my own house, I waiting patiently hoping they will offer some sort of incentive like they did in Australia.

Let us know if there is anything in the pipeline.

The push for solar comes off a big year for the energy source in South Africa, with research from PwC showing that over R5 billion worth of panels were imported in 2022.

It should be interesting to see how long it is going to take the municipalities to jump on the band wagon with registrations to get their piece of the action and how they are going to deal with the massive influx of registrations, if it makes it worth your while to register your system.

By the way this is already a municipality bylaw.

The registration is something that concerns me, the clients don't care about it but if the brown hits the fan it's my name...

I think I need to have it in writing as in email so I can show that I made them aware and then it's the Owner responsibly for a safe property and that law thing.( Can't think of the wording now )
