Conduit tip

Many probably know this already, but for those who don't, here goes.

I only discovered today that a 20mm conduit coupling fits perfectly into a 25mm round box. So should you be short of a 20mm through box on site which was the case with me today and you happen to have a 25mm one, just push in 2 of 20mm couplings and away you go.

It could save you a trip to the wholesaler.

So basically a 20mm coupling in a 25mm round box. Very handy to know that. So many times short one small little think that equals a 1hr30 trip to supplier.

To add the quality of these round boxes are Shite! The thread bits don't bite and also are deep, so the one side takes a short M5 the other side you need a full length M5 bolt. Heck some come without even having the thread thing inside at all.

Pulling the " saving a trip to wholesaler " move, today.

The PVC product sold in SA would be regarded as rejects, I work in a factory which does plastic injection moulding and I showed the boss man the part we have to deal with.

Lets not even started, been down this road before.

A tip for the M 5 screw, turn the box upside down get a long M5 screw it in the thread and tap it until the M5x20 screw fits, save you buy M5X 50 screws.

Anotehr free tip, use a template to install your flush boxes and make sure they are an extra 25 mm deep, you will thank me when you have to install smart switch and plugs, otherwise get amate with a 3D printer to make you 35 mm extentions

The one thing that burns my crack, male adaptors, I dont even fit them on flush installs, just push the pipe directly into the box, then flush cut with a multi tool. If you have to use them, turn the around. We check all of them in the workshop before we go to site and return all the bad ones to the wholesaler and swop them out.

the PVc part of the job is suppose to be the cheapest, but due to the poor quality products being dumped in SA, it has beocme the most expensive par tof the install, unless you are smart.

We wonder why the standard of workmanship has has got so bad, you give poor quality junk to work with you get a poor standar deof workmanship.
