    Mobile inverters and batteries

Anyone have a ton of experience with these things, as the stages increase so the calls for replacement batteires increases.

What I am looking for is a 12 VDC 100amp/hr drop in battery which can be connecte din series to make 24 VDC and charger using the inverter charger.

The amount of money required to upgrade the batteries to lithium, it might pay to fit a proper lithium change and a relay, when the power is on the relay is open and the charger charges the battery, when the power drops, the relay closes and the battery feeds the inverter, simple.

We are in for over R10 000 for drop in batteries, whats anotehr R3k for a lithium charger? still going to be cheaper than buying a lithium mobile unit.

We use an Averge inverter that is settable and suitable for Lithium along with the revov 12v battery - Is a little 1Kw unit but very effective .It may feel expensive but we are yet to have one pop on us due to a short on the output

Still comes in at around 20K - We have installed in blocks of flats to keep passage/stair/security lights on during loadshedding where there are DB's on each floor

Our advise to clients lately has been go the full hog and get a hybrid inverter with 48v battery and add panels and extra batteries later - This is not going to get better and the price of electricity is not going to come down

Making a plan with different chargers inverters and relays is going to come back and bite - You think you saving the client money but in the long run you increasing frustration levels with the dip when you change over and will lose the full install further down the line.

My main line at the moment is Sunsynk inverter, battery and JA solar. We are going to move away form JA panels, the waiting period is just too long.

The reason for this thread, I get so many calls for small 1-3 KVA units. I normally just buy the axpert units and pre wire them in the workshop, take it to site bolt it to the wall and put the lead acid battery on a piece of wood on the floor. IF you set the cutout voltage right on these the batteries should last 2-3 years.

The little 12/24 VDC mobile trolley units are the problem, the cutout voltage is too long, throw in a couple days stage 6 load shedding and and with in a couple of the months the battery is dead.

Fitting a liythium batteries into thes eunit is just sush a waste of money, people say they are drop in and all that stuff but in reality, the charger are not suitable for lithium, unless the unit is deisgned for lithium.

Throwing R15k at batteries for these units just dont make sense, when you can buy a luxpower and revov battery and connect it to the house electrics.

What about the blue nova 12v battteries? Guess they will need a bms or charger though. Have nt work with them yet

They are all producing similar , Revov , Hubble , Blue nova - They have built in BMS - The Revov you can log on through Bluetooth to check battery

It is regulation that BMS is included in the Battery or cell bank

You need an inverter that you can set charge, float , current etc

Of all the lithium batteries I have cut open, these Blue Nova batteries get a 10/10 for build quality. I can see why they cost more than all the others.

The others I have opened look like DIY mass producted units.

It the first thing I do when the battery arrives in the workshop, cut it open to check the build quality. The ones you pay R500, you R500 worth of build quality
