(the ambiguity of) some sans 10142 regulations as it is, is a joke. not to mention the ambivalence, equivocacy, vagueness. and the vacillation of the authors.

According to SANS 10142, an appliance changes electrical energy into another form of energy.
Is this true for all appliances, or are there exceptions ?Comment

The reason I asked the above question is that I can think of a couple of appliances that according to the definition would not be appliances.
1. Battery chargers.
2. Electric fence energizers.
3. APS therapy machines.
4. Welding machines.
They all have electricity in and electricity out.
Now either the definition of an appliance needs looking at ......or ....... 6.16.6 that refers to an electric fence as an appliance and 6.16.8 that refers to an electric vehicle charging station as an appliance needs looking at. They cannot both be correct because they contradict each other.
