    Best solar solution for home

This solar journey has certainly been an interesting one, now it is time to fit a system at home.

I was looking at an 8 kva inverter with a 10 kw battery and as mnay panels as I could fit on the roof.

After watching an interview with the electricity minister, I cant see load shedding going anywhere anytime soon.

From the research into registrations viewing data recorded on sites etc , I am starting to think a 3.5 kw unit with a 5 kwh battery and as many panels on the roof, plus a little extra for winter is going to be a good long term solution.

I am looking at one of those all in one units (inverter and battery), there are some nice slim ones that can be installed in the passage next to my main DB, which might be a challenge due to the 120 min fire rating.

I also thought of installing it in the spare room behind the DB and fitting a 120 min fire rated door, however I dont believe it is as simple as that. I need to consider the single brick wall which not only has a much lower fire rating than 120 min, the wall doesnt extend past the rafters. I am thinking maybe just fit a mobile unit, then all the rules fly out the window. Do the same thing I do with the generators.

Looking at my arrange at the moments which keeps the alarm, CCTV etc powered during power outages, is 100 amp/hr in total. It would be bettee to have a single system mounted against the wall, than a combination of small batteries scattered all ove rthe house.

I nee dto do my homework and find a solution so that I can install the all in one unit insode my house as close to the main DB as possible and still be insured.

Then I need to figure out what it is going to cost me to register the system , monthly fees and costs to the council etc.

Or you could just buy an EcoFlow Delta 2.

    Problem solved.

Hi guys pure sine wave and modified sine inverters. Their price difference. Can a modified one do any harm at all to my fridge and relatively new TV about 7 years old?

Yes, fridge has a capacitor to create the 2nd phase, and will not bode well with a modified sine as it is a square wave. The motor will burn out.
If it is an LCD or LED TV, then the modified will be OK as they use switch mode power supplies.

For the price (less than a 5 kw inverter or battery) I can get an SRNE inverter/battery combo, its a no brainer, plus I can add 4kw of solar. More important is going to be where it will be installed (in the lounge).
