[Question] Major Tech Day/Night Sensor + Power Failure = Fail?

I have a Major Tech 25A Day/Night Sensor wired up to my outside lights.

If I have loadshedding during twilight and the power only comes back by nighttime the lights won't come on? Similarly if the power goes off during the night, the lights won't come on.

I can force it on by shining a torch into the sensor, this seems to reactivate it and the lights come back.

I can also replicate this, by putting the black bag over the sensor then toggling the circuit breaker, the lights won't come on until the bag is removed then reapplied.

Is this standard operation for these sensors or is mine faulty? Major Tech seems to be all that's available on the market?

If anyone else has this problem, I ended up replacing it with a Matelec model and it's working as expected.

Not sure if this a Major Tech issue or I just had a faulty unit.

I use Major Tech as opposed to Metalec because 1) They are smaller making for easier mounting.
2) Their contacts have a higher current rating.
3) They are cheaper.

I have had no after load shedding issues so it seems as if that specific unit was faulty.

I have the same issue but using Metalec. When there is load shedding during twilight and power comes back on at night everything stays off. Initially I thought it was a faulty unit but I installed a second today on another property and have the exact same issue. I stand corrected but I think when I don’t have load shedding during twilight and I have load shedding during the night all is fine. It’s just the twilight slot that brings about the issue. Could load shedding be confusing the unit or is it a coincidence that both units are faulty?
