Solar edge

Anyone have experience with solar edge?

I see they are highly rate down under and I see lots of UK companies are installing them.

They have been around a long time and have a very good reputation already.

I see they are being sold in SA.

I considered installing Deye, but my once month visit to the technical support groups, tells me it might pay me to keep looking.

What is the technical support like, maybe I should join their technical support group and watch it for a while.

I see solar edge a lot in the UK with the carousel sparky channels I watch.

They use optimizers which I think is great, I see them more on the Victron price scale but not done much research with that as the buzz words are sunsynk, Deye and Victron.

But ya not sure of training nor support. But look even on the training and support side it's not the best with the above mentioned brands....

I am currently happy not doing solar mostly as my quotes are too high. Now I inform them of this reg thing and I state I dont know enough and that I will be used to install only and that's it.

My bank account is running real low as I am yet to get some form of big job that is not solar but my happiness level is higher. Some months we eat steak, others it's bread and butter but rather that than killing my self from stress and anxiety of this solar industry.

Solar Edge originally partnered with Rubicon but I heard that Heroldt's are the agents now
En Phase is a similar system and supported by Rubicon

It adds +/- 2 to 3 K per panel and then there are still the controls and inter face

If you have a lot of shading or multiply direction that will normally not work on str strings then it works well - They claim better efficiencies but on small 5kw up to 10KW I find it difficult to believe that it makes that much difference , that's just my opinion

Yes agreed, the system can work with multiple directions, such as the complexes of Balwin. But the cost to most is not worth it, unless it's the only way then sure. But I didn't know about the 5 and 10kw thing,

I agree.

I avoided climbing onto the solar pv bus because of uncertainties.
Only installed 1 inverter so far. No panels except for 4 x 100 Watt panels on my own roof at home.

Reading on the forum, it seems as if that bus is still not running on all it's cylinders. It's timing is still not too lekker and the engine is smoking.

What I have found here in my valley is that there is now a shortage of electricians to do the normal things that electricians used to do before the solar frenzy hit town.
As a result of this, my order book is in good shape doing what I have always done. I suppose it depends on your area, but here the solar frenzy has worked to my advantage without me getting involved in it.

BTW, I regularly have baked beans on toast for supper. Not because I cannot afford steak, but because I really enjoy it.

Solar edge and en phase is grid tied invertersband will only produce when grid is available or coupled to a other inverter which act as a grid reference.
Using it depends on what the client wants to achieve.

Solaredge has true hybrid inverters with batteries in there range
En Phase is grid tie and would need to be ac coupled with another inverter
