    High earth loop

    Hello : )

First time since going my own I have a property with a high loop, 4.15ohms.

Is it the client to phone the power supplier to sort or is it up to me ?

As I see it the client needs to do it but what is the consensus of who calls the power supplier ?

I assume the fix they would do is to make it a TNC-S as it is TNS so they just add a large cable to join the neutral and earth.

Old old property, bought in 2015 where the CoC for that sale the oke put in infinity symbol for the reading. So I assume been bad for a long time !

A few things on it is just wrong so not worth the paper as usual but still need to get it sorted.

Normally they put a bridge between the earth and the neutral, easy cheap, and legal
We have a kiosk on the outside of the houses where the council's supply comes in.
We just put a bridge between the neutral and the earth stud inside the kiosk and the problem is sorted out
TNC-S systems are old and we are phasing it out, replacing it with the TNS system.

Yes ya I assume so and seen it before l. Basically make a TNS and TNC-S.

Thing is with this is the TNS will be converted to TNC-S. Not sure of all the pros and cons other than on a TNC-S if the neutral is lost or becomes high restsitance a shit ton of current flows through the earth cables and plumbing and metal fittings.

Wish I could get a paid for bursary and become and electrical engineer hahaha then I may have some answers haha

The problem started in the early 60's with the use of a 4-wire system, it was very common and cheap, mainly for 3-phase equipment with no earth.
They brought the cable to a kiosk, without an earth, in the kisok they bridge everything to create an earth.
Only later did they realise it might work good in a factory or comercial building but not in a house.
