    230V led light bulb E27

    Hello

Got a weird one and new to me.

Outside gate light, E27, LED 5w bulb. Nothing weird about it, how ever when the power is switched on via the day might sensor the light comes on for around 3 seconds and then goes off...

There is the other on the other side of the exact same design and it stays on.

It is not a loop in and loop out rather somehow joined and seperate light supplies.

I measured voltage when the lights works and goes off and states at 234Volts, no volt drop.

Replaced the E27 ceramic holder and same result, used Wago connectors and not the supplied choc block and still same result.

Any one seen anything like this before where the light bulb comes on for a few seconds then off ?

    You swopped the lamps ?

Tried the lamp in a different location.

Electric fence close to the lamp?

Some of these lamps can twist the PEC to a different angle, it sounds like there is a light source that triggers the switch.

Put a box over the lamp and check, them plug in a different lamp, to see it is reacts the same.

Have you tried using a standard incandescent lamp?
Sometimes the LED just does not draw sufficient current for the electronics to work properly. The new designs use the current through the dimmer to make the electronics work. You may land up having to place 2 or 3 LED lights in parallel to make it work.

Quite correct. Some day/night sensors are especially marked "not for LED use" for that very reason.

OR just use the Led lamps like we do with built in PEC.

              Morning

Thanks gents! It is a very old day night sensor and the one light is working but worth a shot to change as perhaps it is something.

It is about 500mm from a fence, maybe a bit more.

I am not quite sure what a PEC is ? I have it has protective earth conductor but I don't think that is correct haha.

Will start with changing the day night sensor, ratehr at least short it out so the switched portion is joined to live to disregard the day night electronics.

PEC = short for photoelectric cell or some call it a day/night sensor.

New day night sensor in, the left pillar light works and the right pillar light still only goes on for a few seconds then off.

I don't have an incandescent bulb but the one is working so a bit weird.

I may try wire my task LED 20Watt in and see if that works

Solved.... If I just read the bulb it is a day night sensor bulb.... What got me is there is no abvoise exterior sensor thing so it's inside, so reading does help hahaha. But just incase for anyone else... Read the bulb haha
