Time for PV professional qualification vs electrician qualification?

Reading the debates on the various forums, one realizes that the current regulations have a couple of flaws and that you have to consult more than one regulation book to try and understand what is going on.
Then there are the electricians, various organizations, and the DOL disputing the correct legal interpretations and procedures of how to do things.
Then you get an IE and MIE electrician who has limited DC training and no experience with PV systems, yet they are qualified to conduct PV installations and COC them, regardless of their understanding of the process.
In America, you have NABCEP, https://www.nabcep.org/certification...ertifications/, which examines Solar Professionals to ensure they have what it takes to do the job, one examination board, one regulatory body, one hurdle to cross to ensure you can do the job.

Then, maybe, the disputes will cease regarding the safe and legal installation of PV systems, as well as who is qualified to install and approve them.

Maybe it is time that South Africa goes a similar route, OOps I forgot, I am in South Africa, and the odds of it ever happening are slim

I agree. I think that is what the green card people are sort of aiming for.

Had a client who wants to get green card to do installs when he retires. Pretty damn wealthy dude.
But what this shows again is people think the green card you can do it all.

But anyway, I agree. Just one body to do exams with and all that and that is it klaar. But with that to be IE and MIE as well. Not just anyone to do these exams etc and be certified, a criteria is to be IE or MIE.

Big can of worms I guess

Just smile, register a solar specific company everyone has a solar company, find a person who is willing to risk their license and sign off projects, stay off the groups, unless you trying unload a product, then put someone on the groups to make your brand look good, dont share pictures of your installations and you will be fine.

This industry has a long road ahead, it is going to take years for the regulations to be updated, compliant installations to be registered and any form of policing to be implemented.

People can't even fill out what some would call a legal document (COC).

Let me use a simple discussion on this platform, COC numbering, just smile and nod your head or ge tthat blank look on your face, like you have no idea what they are talking about, it seems to work the best

Hi Tradie, your remark on a blank look reminded me of this saying:

The blank expression on my face does not indicate that I agree with you.
It is a sign of how shocked I am that you can say something that stupid.
